You are whole, already. Did you know?

Many of us were never told that we were, are, and forever will be whole. Instead, different people and life situations have given us the impression that we are flawed, broken, or somehow less than. Physical pain, emotional anguish, and life's struggles often seem to indicate that something must be wrong, so we set out on a journey to fix it, to heal.

Maybe that's what brought you here. First, let me welcome you and second, allow me the pleasure of telling you, or gently reminding you if you knew but forgot, that there is nothing wrong with you.
 

When I first heard this, I had a hard time digesting it. But somewhere deep inside of me, I instantaneously knew it was true. Chances are that somewhere inside of you -- maybe in your heart, your belly, or in the core of your being -- you either feel the truth of this statement too or you desperately long for it to be so. 

And here's another BIG one: you are always and already whole. So, how come you don't feel whole all the time?

That's because parts of you, parts that show up in your wholeness, may feel quite flawed, broken
, sad, pained, ignored, angry, unloved, shamed, hurt, confused, and a host of other feelings. 

These parts tend to blend with the feeling of who we are, and then we forget our own wholeness. My work focuses on joining you in tending to these parts gently and safely, so that you can remember that you are whole and start to feel a whole lot better.

Hi, I'm Shira. I provide guidance, company, and support for healing in wholeness. 

When working with you, my job is to help you carefully tend to present as well as past hurts, aches, and pains in the body, mind, heart, and spirit that hijack your attention, make you feel less than, and hold you back from thriving.

In more concrete terms, I use:
  • acupressure points,
  • meditative dialogue,
  • breath attention,
  • connection to nature,
  • and many other techniques to help your body experience more ease, bring down the volume on overwhelming emotions, and restore a sense of calm.

​Anything, and I do mean ANYTHING, that I share with you, I try first on myself. I only offer you the tried and true ways to most effectively care for your own self. I'll probably share a few of my own stories with you, just to let you know that you are definitely not alone.

I've been in practice for about 10 years and have developed my own style, but I proudly continue to call myself a student of Clinical and Process Acupressure with Soul Lightening International® as well as iRest® Yoga Nidra Meditation with Integrative Restoration Institute -- three modalities in which I am extensively trained and certified.

​Along with Chinese medicine's 5-Element Theory and practices of cultivating awareness, my tool kit and understanding of our human conditioning continues to grow with studies of Internal Family Systems Therapy, Shamanic Healing, Ancestral Healing, Inner Child Healing, and Family Systems Constellation.

I live in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA. 

What type of conditions or symptoms can be addressed in these sessions?

Often, the parts of ourselves that feel hurt, unseen, or in need of attention will show up as sensations or signals in the body that can develop into symptoms, chronic conditions, and illnesses. Many health and wellness concerns are addressed with the tools I offer.

Some common ones are:
  • Stress and tension
  • ​Physical pain (infrequent as well as chronic)
  • Digestive concerns
  • Insomnia/sleep disturbances
  • Low energy, lethargy, and fatigue
  • Nervous system imbalance
  • Respiratory health
  • Mental and emotional strain
  • Depression, anxiety, and grief
  • Difficult memories
  • Exposure to deeply distressing event(s), and
  • Trauma / PTSD.

Who are sessions with me suitable for?

My gentle approach and undivided attention not only encourage relaxation but also effectively release patterns of holding in the body, mind, heart, and spirit -- whether they have been there for a few days or a lifetime. All people, regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, age, religion or faith tradition, physical ability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and any other characteristic, are welcomed and respected as they are. 

​The underlying intention of every session is to (re)discover the wholeness that you are. If that's what you're looking for, we've got something to talk about.

Where do we meet and how does it work?

Online via Zoom, or if you prefer, via phone. 

A typical session 
begins with a check-in conversation about what is currently showing up in your life (an ache, situation, thought or feeling). As a picture forms of what you're facing, I guide you through specific acupressure points to hold on yourself and meditative tools, like paying attention to the breath or imagining a calm scene, that address your experience and what's most needed now. 

Each session is different because the set of tools we use together are a dynamic and live response to the way life is unfolding for you in the present moment. The best way to get a feel for it and see if it's right for you is to schedule some time for us to chat.
