Are you feeling it? The transition, I mean. It's not quite winter, not quite spring. And, something sure feels different. Some emotions are bubbling up. A bit more irritation and frustration are making themselves known. There's some excitement in the air alongside nostalgia and a desire to fully thrive. The body is begging for more rest, perhaps getting sick, or feeling totally run down. Many of the regular routines and rhythms are changing, and there seems to be a quickening pulse to it all. Yes?
Whether this exact list is what is happening with you or something along these lines--this is it. We are in that in-between phase, where things get a bit uncomfortable, where things don't exactly feel settled, where things keep changing and clarity is elusive.
For me, this phase often give way to the question: "How do I stay stable during a time of transition?" And, the answer that I have been arriving to more and more lately is simply "You don't." The nature of transitions is that they do not feel fixed or steady or consistent in any way. Transitions are defined by their movement, by change. Trying to stay stable when things are in flux can cause a great deal of rigidity and a sense of frozen-ness, which is a lot like fear.
Instead, we can notice that things do not feel stable and then meet ourselves with lots of compassion. Accepting the unsteadiness of this moment frees us up to experience life as it is. It frees us up to feel our own aliveness in its fullest expression.
My recommendation? Turn your attention during this time of transition to those things that feel like they nourish your sense of well-being. You may start by asking yourself, "What does well-being mean for me?" Then, let the answer guide you to those activities, people, and places that replenish that wellness.
I find that for me well-being has a lot to do with just being. So I turn to those things (like acupuncture, a walk in nature, aromatherapy, meditation, listening to music, etc') that feel like they don't require anything of me, where I can just be. Feel yourself as this all-embracing space.
