On Unwinding...
Some days it seems that the mind just won't stop! Obviously, we don't want it to stop all together, but at times we may wish for the incessant chatter, circling thoughts, and accompanying restlessness in the body to just give us a rest.
Unfortunately, there is no magic "switch off" button. Instead, we may choose to understand that sometimes our minds get too wound up and what we need is a healthy way to unwind. True meditation doesn't shut the mind off, instead it offers us a place to watch the thoughts go by, to notice the areas where tension has crept in, and to bring our attention back to the part of ourselves that is always at rest, at ease, and at peace.
