It seems hard or practically impossible to imagine, but you can be in the middle of a battlefield and experience equanimity. In the depth of dealing with a terminal illness and experience a sense of serenity. In the midst of earth-shattering heartbreak and experience profound peace.
I know. It sounds absurd. But I didn't make this up. These are the experiences of real people. Real. Just like you and me.
How do we wrap our heads around this?
We begin with the understanding that inner peace is a quality of being. It is an in-built part of who we are. It's alive and pulsating within you all the time. It does not go away when you argue with your friend or have a bad day or find yourself armed and ready for war.
Even in the most harrowing of times, we can still touch peace, feel it within us, and allow it to remind us that we are indeed human and alive.
Curious about this? Not sure what it all means? Want to inquire into it some more? I find that reading a message like this is a lovely reminder that you are peace, but that it can only act as a reminder once you've experienced it to be true in your whole being. Join me at any of the upcoming meditation sessions and/or schedule a private session to further inquire into this, identify, and locate your own inner peace.
